eBay Listing Red Matador and Bull Ceramic Mid-century, Retro, Antique Statues - RARE & Gorg!
I just figured out that "gorg" means "gorgeous" and not some cool mid-century ceramist's name or a shorting of the word "gore" as in being gored by a bull. 0 bids - current price $65.00.

Jan De Ruth Mid-Century Impressionist Portrait / Seated Young Lady in Red Dress
JAN DE RUTH MID CENTURY IMPRESSIONIST PORTRAIT /SEATED YOUNG LADY IN RED DRESS
eBay Listing Jan De Ruth Mid-Century Impressionist Portrait / Seated Young Lady in Red Dress
I am ALWAYS a sucker for a mid-century modern painting of a woman. No bids - Current price $2,000.  Is it worth it? I would have to do a lot of research. Upon first glance through the world wide web, this artist tends to paint mostly nudes. But this little lady sure is pretty and a classic mid-century girl.

You're welcome.
Which is your favorite?

  1. These are great, Rebecca! That first one immediately reminded me of the evil queen in snow white. You know... her crown or whatever you call it.
It's super cool but that's the first thing I thought of. HA HA!

I like the red decanter too. I have a big green one and keep wondering if it's Blenko. I should do a post about it and see if anyone can tell. I love it anyway. This red one is really fun. Happy Valentine's Day. LOVE your blog!

    1. I like that decanter a lot. I buy so much green I think I have been neglecting red. It is a lovely mid-century color.

  2. I am with you on the fireplace. I've been wanting one for the patio too. My husband just doesn't get it. Talk about instant focal point to build off of! Decorating made easy. I need one in orange.

  3. Such a great selection of red items! My daughter collects swung glass and has several pieces of amberina similar to the first picture. We've sold several Preway fireplaces since the store opened, and I'd love to have one on our patio. I love art glass too. We're about to close out all our Blenko and sell it on eBay, so I may be making some purchases for myself. That doorbell is adorable, and the Cosco stool makes me think of my grandmother's kitchen. She had one just like it. I love the Texas Ware bowl. I've never seen a red one before. I still have two gray ones I set up housekeeping with in 1967.

    1. Dana, will send you a separate note. Please advise when you close out the Blenko. :) I am obsessed with the fireplace. I really want one. I had never seen the amberina glass before. It is so beautiful.

  4. That step stool looks familiar--think we had one many (many) years ago. And I love the red desk lamp. What do they mean by Eames era--maybe contemporaneous with Eames?

    1. Yes you did. In gray? In eBay listings they say things like "Eames" because there are people like me searching on the word "Eames."

  5. Fireplace, hands down! There is a similar red fireplace in the yard of a home nearby. It looks unused and unloved. I've been tempted to stop and inquire.

    1. Thank you all for supporting my wish for one of those fireplaces. I am going to do it. Hubby is worried it will rot in our damp weather. I say we try it. If it doesn't work out, we can build a fireplace outside someday. I think it would be really cool and like Brooke said, instant focal point!

  7. Hi Rebecca, I love the lady in red - she's beautiful (but she'd want to be for $2000!), that little doorbell button (how sweet and what a lovely way to say Welcome to our home), but most of all I love that fireplace. If your husband's worried about rot, couldn't you find a place for it inside?
Now to check out all those gorg mid-century homes you've been show-casing...I've got a cup of coffee and I'm ready to swoon.
